BCTC/City of Barrie Lesson Program 2012

Instructor: Michele May
Michele May, Level II certified CTA professional, will continue to teach the Parks and Rec tennis programs offered at the courts on East Bayfield. Michele has dedicated many years to the teaching of tennis. In addition, Michele has been a high school tennis coach in Barrie for 20 years.
Adult Lessons
Fees: $135 (Residents) $143 (Non residents) plus HST
Program runs for 8 weeks from May 14 untill July 9 (Excl May 21st – Victoria Day).
Adult Beginner Lessons – 6:00-7:00 p.m. and 7:00-8:00 p.m.
In partnership with the Barrie Community Tennis Club, this program offers a friendly introduction to tennis. This program is designed for adults with little or no playing experience. Participants will be taught: basic strokes, forehand, backhand, volleys, serve, footwork, rules and scoring. Please bring tennis shoes and a racquet.
Adult Intermediate to Advanced Lessons – 8:00-9:00 pm.
This program is designed for adults who have had lessons or playing experience. In partnership with Barrie Community Tennis Club, a review of the fundamentals will be taught, as well as advanced singles and doubles tactics to improve your tennis game. Tennis fitness and competitive play will be a focus of each lesson. Participants need to be able to maintain a rally to participate in this program. Please bring tennis shoes and a racquet.
Junior Lessons
Fees for the 45 min classes will be $65 for residents and $73 for non-residents
Fees for the 1 hour classes will be $77 for residents and $85 for non-residents
Program runs for 6 weeks from May 12 until June 23 (Excl May 19th – Victoria Day long weekend).
Mini Tennis – ages 4-5 from 9-9:45am
In partnership with the Barrie Community Tennis Club, this program offers a friendly introduction to tennis. It encourages children to have fun and find a comfort level with the sport upon first contact. No prior tennis knowledge required. Please bring tennis shoes and a racquet.
Play Tennis
Ages 6-8 from 9:45-10:30am and 10:30-11:15am;
Ages 9-12 from 11:30am-12:30pm;
Ages 13-15 from 12:30-1:30pm
In partnership with the Barrie Community Tennis Club, this program offers a friendly introduction to tennis. Learn tennis fundamentals in this program including basic strokes, forehand, backhand, volleys, serve, footwork, rules and scoring. Please bring tennis shoes and a racquet.
